About

Curbside.eco is a project developed by a mother/son duo named Jo and Ollie that want to make it easy and fun to engage in a sustainable lifestyle.

Jo is an Environmental Scientist who has worked with thousands of businesses, local governments and non profit organizations to move communities toward more sustainable living. Ollie is a student with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

The concept of Curbside.eco started when Ollie began talking about e-commerce and how it is the future of commerce.  It has the potential to actually save energy and greenhouse gas emissions if done right. Jo was worried about small businesses being left out of the e-commerce equation. Since small businesses are the backbone of our communities and critical to our economy, how could the two coexist synergistically outside of giant e-commerce outlets?

During the pandemic, Jo and Ollie realized a huge shift in environmental outreach from in-person events and paper communications toward more web-based outreach. They both realized that there is a mountain of collective knowledge and sharing potential in sustainable living that isn’t necessarily happening in a substantiated/organized way online. There’s also a lot of greenwashing of products with outlets either unwilling or unable to substantiate the net positive environmental outcome of a product. There currently isn’t a “Consumer Report” that prioritizes the more sustainable options. Eco-shopping hasn’t expanded past clothing and kitchen/bath products. What if we were all able to share those learnings online and “vote with our dollars” for a more sustainable world where appropriate, or choose to live a more vibrant, less material life where more appropriate? How could we bring all these learnings together, tapping our collective knowledge?

This is where Curbside.eco evolved. This is our space and our time to build a community where we all learn from each other, benefit each other, and stave off the worst of the climate crisis and environmental degradation. Content and learning heavy, Curbside.eco also provides access to products and services that help promote a more sustainable lifestyle. We curate them for you so you don’t have to mine the internet, culling the greenwashing and eco-premiums.
